About

Denise is the founder of Youth Nation Yoga, located in Brewster, New York. She is also an educator with the Somers Central School District, where she teaches English language arts at the middle school level. Denise completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2013 at Yoga Culture,  in Danbury, Connecticut. As a long-time yogi, Denise always shared yoga and mindfulness with her students. She knew in her heart that children needed a practice that supported their growing developmental needs, physically, emotionally, and socially, which is why she enrolled in Little Flower Yoga’s teacher training program in 2015. Since then, she has taught local children in studios, schools, and public libraries. Additionally, Denise is a Certified Mindful Schools Educator.

As a classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels, she has come to discover how stressed our children are these days. With the demands of school, extracurricular activities, friend and family obligations, and technology use, now more than ever it is important for kids to slow down, pause, and take a breath. As an educator, Denise intends to bring a movement and mindfulness practice to as many children as possible, helping them to be their best selves, one breath, one movement, and one moment at a time. Denise also facilitates workshops for school educators, clinicians, parents, and yoga teachers who are interested in bringing a yoga and mindfulness practice to the youth in their lives. Venues include local schools, yoga studios, libraries, and Westchester Community College.

Denise is also a certified yin yoga teacher and trained with Liberation Prison Yoga, where she teaches trauma-conscious yoga and mindfulness classes to the women at the Taconic Correctional Facility.
